I don't watch the news.I don't read the newspaper very often.
I hate hearing the constant stream of bad things happening in the world, it only serves to bring me down or bring me to tears, especially if it's about kids being hurt or worse.
So imagine my shock when I've just logged on to post here and seen the news on my homepage that Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer with only weeks to live.
I love Patrick, ever since Dirty Dancing, my all time favourite movie for a variety of personal reasons.
That strut, that swagger, that macho charisma...
I'm sad. Beyond sad. Cancer affects so many of us in so many different ways. It's a horrible disease and let's hope we find a cure. Soon.
I then see a news article on Sam Newman having prostate cancer. For non-Aussies, Sam is an iconic figure in Aussie Rules football, moving from player to media star, often controversial. Love him or hate him, he doesn't deserve this. No one does.
Sorry for bringing the mood down here...but sometimes I just have to comment on the unfairness of life...

THE BOSS'S BEDROOM AGENDA is being released in the UK in October! Will confirm US dates when I have them but it won't be till 2009.

Oye.. pancreatic cancer. We had a dear friend pass away a few years ago with it. Unfortunately not a lot of hope when given that diagnosis.
Oh. the up-side.. I should send you a personal thank you and not just do it online but I don't know if your ears are burning. but I've been telling everyone about the wonderful authors I've discovered since I won you Valentine's Day Contest.
Thank you. Although my book budget doesn't thank you since there are not 1/2 dozen more authors I need to follow.

I hadn't heard about Patrick until you mention then I noticed it on the news. I hate to here about that, he's a great actor. Dirty Dancing was my favorite movie of all times. I still watch it.

Dirty Dancing is my fave all time movie now...think I'll shed a tear now every time I watch it...
I didn't hear about Patrick because I don't watch the news either. I love his movies and I can't stop crying hearing this. I just the other day said to my sister that they should make a Dirty Dancing 2 with him and Jennifer and kids. I feel so bad for his family.

seems like he is universally loved...very, very sad. :(
I have a movie from him where he played with Randy Travis and Meatloaf - called Black Dog. But I loved him in Dirty Dancing this is so sad. Cancer is such an unknown disease even with all the research they have done.
