Age old tale

I now understand the hype behind Twilight.

I've read the book, watched the movie, and enjoyed both a lot more than I expected to.

I'd heard so many reviews, most of them not good, that I suppose I'd lowered my expectations so was pleasantly surprised.

For me, it's not about the writing.
Not about the plot.
Not about the paranormal stuff that I don't usually read.

The catch for me is the age old love story between star-crossed lovers.

Whatever happens in the plot, I want to keep reading to follow the relationship between Bella and Edward. I'm hooked on their romance. Simple as that.

And yes, I went out and bought New Moon the day after finishing Twilight. It has moved to top of my towering TBR pile.

You're right Nicola! There is absolutely something about their story, the danger and shouldn't be together-ness, that draws you and compells you to keep reading.
I'm hooked too! I've just bought Eclipse and can't wait to read it.

That dangerous edge to their relationship is a definite hook, Kerrin!

The forbidden love is a huge part of the attraction, Barbara.

I love how Edward battles within himself: he knows he should stay away to keep her safe, yet she's the first female to ever compel him like this.

Fabulous stuff!

What is it about a 'bad boy' or something that is 'taboo or forbidden' that has us girls hooked? My lovely hubby took me to see a vampire movie he happened to see whilst overseas. He thought I might like it cause 'its a bit weird, like you'. Bless him, but that's NOT why I liked it. I was team edward from the moment he walked into that cafeteria.

Janette, you're sooo right about the bad boy. I'm a gal who gets hooked on bad boys through and through!

I haven't read far enough to see what all the fuss about Jacob is but honestly? He's going to have to be something pretty special to oust my favouritism for Edward!

I'm with you.
He had me the moment he walked into that cafeteria!
