#TemptedToWrite

Check out this fantastic writing comp being run by MILLS & BOON.
Here's the lowdown from my fab editor Flo Nicoll:

Welcome to Tempted to Write, the Modern Tempted writing competition that Harlequin UK will be running on Facebook this January!

We will be asking daily questions for ten days, designed to get people thinking about their characters, conflicts and plot. Each day, we will choose our favourite answer, and every winner will receive lovely Modern Tempted books as a prize.

The competition will run from 20th January to 31st January. At the end of the ten days, we will invite entrants to write a short story (10,000 words max) based on the questions and answers, to be submitted by 10th February. The winner will be published on our website on Valentine’s Day, and also receive an editorial mentor in the form of the lovely Clio.

Happy New Year! Or is it?

Sorry for being AWOL since Boxing Day.
My kidlet has had pneumonia! And I've got some weird shortness of breath that has involved chest XRays and the like, with no resolution yet. Ugh.

Hope your new year has been more fun than mine!

In other news, I have a Mills & Boon anthology BEDROOM SEDUCTIONS out this month (a re-issue of Two Weeks in the Magnate's Bed.)

Nice cover.

Well, here's the UK version.

I like how it fits the jewellery theme of the book.
Would you do a deal with this guy?
Reckon I would!

WEEKEND BOOK CLUB: How to Win the Dating War

I love discovering new authors and becoming hooked on their books.
Aimee Carson is now one of those authors.

I read How to Win the Dating War last week and it blew me away (especially as this is Aimee's 2nd book!)

Here's the blurb:

In the men’s corner.. Cutter Thompson – Miami’s hottest ex-racing car driver – believes that action always speaks louder than words. Participating in a celebrity dating competition, where his every text is analysed to death, is his worst nightmare!

Flying the flag for the girls... Divorcee Jessica Wilson has built her life – and her dating service! – on the premise that communication is the key to happiness. Cutter might not think he needs her help to flirt successfully, but her professional radar says otherwise...

But this battle of the sexes gets complicated by an intense, sizzling attraction! Will it be game, set and…match made in heaven?

This was my first book by Aimee Carson and I can sum it up in one word: WOW!

How to Win the Dating War is a sexy read with two mismatched characters that create major sparks.

Cutter has to be the hottest hero I've read in a long while.

He's brash, blunt and incredibly drool worthy.
Jessica is a little prim and proper, and the perfect foil for his rough around the edges appeal.

The sexual tension sizzles off the page!

I loved every minute of this story and can't wait to read more from Aimee.

Highly recommend.

Release day: Author's Choice

Last year, the lovely folk at Mills and Boon Australia approached me to choose 2 of my favourite Harlequin Romances I'd written for re-release.

I chose A TRIP WITH THE TYCOON (because the train journey on the luxurious Palace on Wheels through Rajasthan, India, that Tam and Ethan take is a firm favourite of mine) and EXECUTIVE MOTHER-TO-BE, because Nathan is so deeply complex and Kris is a 35 year old career woman who never thought she wanted kids (and how they come together is a gradual process.)

Hope you enjoy!

Cover girl

In all the excitement of the New Year, I completely forgot to blog about this.

Late last year, I was interviewed by Harry MacLure, chief editor for AITW, an international magazine for Anglo Indians. When he said I'd be on the front cover of the Christmas issue, as well as being the feature article, I was delighted!
I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive but last night, I had an email from a lovely lady in Montreal. She said she used to read Mills and Boon romance in the 60s when she was a teenager and after reading my interview, she was going to start reading them again and catch up on the romance that got sidelined in her busy life.
Isn't that fabulous?

The magazine is distributed to thousands of people world-wide and it's jam-packed with great articles. If you're interested, check out details here.

I'm off to enjoy my fifteen seconds of fame :)

And the winner is...

I've woken to some good news this morning.
FOUND: HIS FAMILY has won the Cataromance Reviewers' Choice Award 2006(July-Dec) for Best Mills and Boon Tender Romance.
This book was also nominated in the Best Silhouette Romance category, which was taken out by Sophie Weston.
Several of my buddies picked up awards too (yay!): Trish Wylie for Best Mod Ex, Ally Blake for Best MandB Romance and Fiona Lowe for Best Med Romance. Go girls!
I had great doubts when writing FOUND: HIS FAMILY. It was a highly emotional book for me, with Toby suffering leukemia and needing a bone marrow transplant, and I'd never done a book like this before. It's also a departure from my usual fun, flirty style so I wondered what readers would think.
Thankfully, so far I've had nothing but positive feedback and this award means a lot.
I've been nominated for a few Cataromance awards but this is my first win since I won Best Harlequin Romance with my first book, THE TYCOON'S DATING DEAL back in 2004, so I'm thrilled :)
