Reviewers' Choice Award!

Woke to lovely news that one of my Modern Extra releases last year has won a CataRomance Reviewers' Choice Award!
TWO-WEEK MISTRESS was so much fun to write.
Bo Bradford was the reclusive children's author, Tahnee Lewis was the breezy heroine, and Wally the Wombat featured on his blog...loads of fun!
Rather timely, as Kristen Lewis, the last of the Lewis sisters, has her own story coming up in EXECUTIVE MOTHER-TO-BE, my Harlequin Romance out in Feb.
So thanks to all the reviewers at CataRomance :)

When ideas refuse to go away!

I couldn't sleep last night.

The idea for my next Modern Extra kept morphing and developing and going round and round in my head. I guess this is a good thing, as the plot for this one is coming to me bit by bit but honestly, at 1am in the morning when I'd been up the previous night with a sick child and was exhausted, it would be nice if the ideas waited till morning!

That said, I can't nail down a conflict for this one.
The characters are so crystal clear it's fabulous but I can't think of one thing to keep them apart!
Hmm...must think...must think...and if that doesn't work, rest assured I'll be turning it over to you guys for inspiration. There'll be a book or two in it for you, promise!

The final edit

Last night I started doing the final read-through of my next Modern Extra, PICTURE PERFECT, which is due next week.

Interestingly, I already thought I'd done the final edits but it's amazing how much you pick up after letting the manuscript sit for longer. Usually, I don't have that luxury with deadlines to meet and a host of other stuff to do but this one flew pretty quickly so has been sitting for a few weeks.

Mind you, nothing major but I tightened up words and phrases in the first 4 chapters, so I'll be interested to see what else I pick up for the rest of the manuscript.

This is the story where I didn't use my collage as much, though the more I read of this book the more I pick up on subtle nuances that were in the collage. Maybe I picked up a lot more from it than I thought?

New cover!

I love the excitement of seeing a new cover.
And this one is no exception!
While my first Modern Extra, BIG-SHOT BACHELOR is currently on UK shelves, here's the cover for my next, TWO-WEEK MISTRESS, out in March.
Tahnee and Bo do have a picnic near Sydney Harbour and this kiss captures the mood of that picnic perfectly.
And I love the sun glinting through. Very evocative.
I know BIG-SHOT BACHELOR was a fave book, but I reckon this one equals it. It was so much fun writing a sparky heroine who delights in bringing the reclusive author out of his shell.
And starting each chapter with an excerpt from the hero's blog (featuring Wally the Wombat) was another bit of fun I couldn't resist!
