A new fan

It's always lovely to get a glowing review and here's one from a new-to-me reader for this book.

Here's a snippet from Danielle's review:

Although I’m not a big fan of the reunited lovers theme, Ms. Marsh handles it well.
Also, I love seeing heroines who are successful in their careers, and financially independent, on equal to the heroes.
Ms. Marsh did a great job of showing me who Nick was, revealing his emotional vulnerabilities in a way that I wish was done more often in the Harlequin Presents books. Instead of Brittany being the only one who seemed emotionally at risk, it was clear that Nick had a lot at stake on that level as well. I liked that Nick and Brittany had been friends since childhood, and their love grew out of their bond. It must have made their separation that much more painful. I appreciated that time was taken to show the rebuilding of Brittany and Nick’s relationship outside of the sexual aspect. That would have been way too easy to show them jumping into intimacy when they had to work to rebuild the trust between them that was lost when they parted.
This was a good, quick Saturday read, and I’m glad to know I have more of Nicola Marsh’s books in my tbr pile to read. She has a way with words and writes a very good romance.

You can read the rest here.
And she's kindly posted her review on Goodreads, which is a huge bonus, as it stimulates discussion and recommendations to other readers.
Good stuff.

Foreign shores

This month sees the release of 3 of my books overseas.

In Italy, THREE TIMES A BRIDESMAID...
In France, MARRIAGE: FOR BUSINESS OR PLEASURE?

In Holland, A TRIP WITH THE TYCOON.
I never, ever tire of seeing foreign covers. It's like getting first printing of a book in my hot little hands all over again!

Cover models

Marriage: For Business or Pleasure? (THE ONE that hit the USA TODAY bestseller list) is out now in Germany.

Translated: AGAIN: WITH MUCH LOVE!

Pretty spot on considering it's a second time round romance.
And I like how they've got the heroine's hair colour right (on the US cover, Britt had blonde hair when she's definitely a red head.)

But is it just me or does the model on this cover look about 12?

Resuming normal transmission

Phew!

I don't know about all of you but I'm exhausted after the fortnight of hotties. Well, maybe my eyes are exhausted...all that eye candy, a girl doesn't know where to look first!

A huge thanks to all the lovely authors who came to play here and shared their favourite hot heroes with us. For the writers among us, lots of food for thought and future heroes to come.

While we've all been drooling, here's my fortnight in recap:

MARRIAGE: FOR BUSINESS OR PLEASURE? hits the USA TODAY bestseller list and makes me a USA TODAY bestselling author (yep, I'm going to keep screaming this for a long time!)

It also hit the Bookscan bestseller list, debuting at 67, hitting 62 last week.

I wrote a grand total of 17500 words on current Mod Heat due next week & 40 pages on something else I'm working on

Had an emergency dash to clinic for ultrasound for a deep vein thrombosis, followed by another dash to doc the next day to clear another nasty.

Toddler's head connected with pavement, now sporting massive egg.

Lovely Valentine's Day BBQ with old uni friends down near the beach, with 9 kids running riot.

There, now we're all caught up on the news, time to announce the winner of Kelly's fabulous books...

Peggy, congrats! Please email me your details.

eHarlequin bestseller

Woo-hoo!

MARRIAGE: FOR BUSINESS OR PLEASURE? hit the Top 10 Bestseller list on eharlequin yesterday.

Nice :)

In other snippets, here's an interview I did recently, some answers appearing on 9MSN.Money today. "Love is in the Air: Can you make money as a romance novelist?"

(Note: I do not write 8 books a year across 3 Harlequin series. Not sure where that came from...)

A fab review to start the New Year

On the heels of my Romantic Times Top Pick for MARRIAGE: FOR BUSINESS OR PLEASURE? comes another lovely review, this time from Susan Barton (a first time reviewer for my books) at ROMANCE READER AT HEART.

Marsh is a master at expressing emotions...

Marsh beautifully decorates her idyllic beach resort setting with fantasy rooms in Nick's hotel...

The brutal realities of Brit's emotional and physical abuse by her father are offset by the tender re-awakening of love and desire between Nick and Brittany. So many emotional landscapes are covered in this way too short story. I would love a longer version exploring more of Noosa, Nick, and Brittany.

Though MARRIAGE: FOR BUSINESS OR PLEASURE? is a fairly quick read, it really packs an emotional punch and my tears came often as I experienced Nick and Brittany's passion and pain.

Lovely.

And if that wasn't exciting enough, this book hits Aussie/NZ shores in Feb, but is currently NUMBER ONE on this month's Top 10 Books on the Mills and Boon OZ site.

Double yay!

Romantic Times Top Pick!

I've received a lovely early Christmas present!

My current release in the UK, MARRIAGE: FOR BUSINESS OR PLEASURE?, out in the States in Feb, has received 4 and a half stars and Top Pick from Romantic Times!

Here's what they had to say:
It's been 10 years since Brittany Lloyd left New Zealand after bad boy Nick Mancini refused to go with her. Now she's on the cusp of a major career breakthrough but needs his help. She's in for a surprise -- he's now the multimillionaire owner of an international hotel chain. While the attraction is still there, so are the memories of how things ended. Nick says he'll help her if she'll help him -- by marrying him so his business associates will take him seriously. But how long will the marriage stay in name only?

This lovers-reunited tale is awash in passion, sensuality and plenty of sparks. The terrific characters immediately capture your attention, and from there, the pages go flying by.

Hot on the heels of A TRIP WITH THE TYCOON scoring an award nomination for Best Harlequin Romance, I love the fab folks at RT!

(An aside on the review...the book is set in Noosa, Australia, a fave holiday spot of mine.)

Do blondes have more fun?

That's an interesting question, considering Britt, my heroine in MARRIAGE: FOR BUSINESS OR PLEASURE? has undergone a radical hair dye job for the US cover (out in Feb 2010.)

In the book, Britt is quite clearly a redhead. Nick, the hero, has nicknamed her Red since they were teenagers. And that is clearly depicted on the UK cover.

Now don't get me wrong, I love this US cover, it's gorgeous!

But why the hair colour change?

Hmm...guess it must be true. In the States, blondes do have more fun. :)

New cover

I love getting a first glimpse of my covers.

Here's the UK version of MARRIAGE: FOR BUSINESS OR PLEASURE?

Britt is spot on with the red hair, Italian Nick is sexy, and the room is perfect (the French Suite in Nick's hotel which features prominently in several scenes!)

Nice, huh?

My 20th book!

I'm still pinching myself about that...my 20th book!
I swear it feels like I only just sold yesterday...but 5 years passes mighty quickly when you have 2 babies in that time!
This Modern Heat was slotted into December 09 a while ago but I've been waiting on the title and now I have it!
MARRIAGE: FOR BUSINESS OR PLEASURE?
This book features my Italian bad boy, Nick Mancini and career-oriented London gal Brittany Lloyd.
Considering they were teenage sweethearts, you can imagine the sparks flying when they reunite ten years later...and Nick has a proposal for Britt that blows her mind!
I've tried to upload an excerpt to my webpage but after that part of my PC got fried in the lightning strike, it's refusing to work.
Much gnashing of teeth will ensue, I fear.
