While I write category romance, I don't read a lot of it these days.
I'd love to, but just don't have the time. When I do, some of my favourite category authors are Liz Fielding, Ally Blake, Trish Wylie, Natasha Oakley and Sarah Mayberry.
Kelly Hunter is another.
With good reason.
She has a unique voice which leaps off the page, her Asian settings are evocative and her heroes are the most gorgeous men on the planet!
She's currently nominated for a RITA (and was nominated 2 years ago).
If she doesn't win this year, she'll win next year, with Untameable Rogue.
Without a doubt, it is my absolute favourite Kelly Hunter novel.
The sparks between CEO Madeline Delacourte and disarmament specialist Luke Bennett burn up the pages. Their chemistry sizzles in a big way!
(I've been to Singapore several times, wish I'd met a Luke there!)
And the secondary characters made me smile.
This is the first category romance I've reviewed here, with reason. It's a stand out.
If you've never read a category romance, do yourself a favour and pick up this one.
You won't regret it.
What are you reading this week?

Untameable Rogue was fabulous (as are all her books : ). I've been greedy this week and already read Naamah's Kiss by Jacqueline Carey, His At Night by Sherry Thomas and Savor the Moment by Nora so now need to pick something else for the weekend!
Well, once the final was over (no worries, got a 109 -- yes, really, strange as it sounds -- 94 on the final, rest is extra credit, so got me my A. . . anyhoo, after Tuesday I was catching up on stuff and I think I crashed for a while, so haven't done much reading since then, but now onto Ten Things I Love About Your by Julia Quinn. :)
Lois
Nic, I'm blushing. Thanks for the wonderful review. So far this week I've read The Secret Countess by Eva Ibbotson, first pubbed in 1981 and back again recently as a Picador YA. The prose was divine.
Next up was Dead And Gone by Charlaine Harris. Loved it.
Last night Susan Elizabeth Philips with What I Did For Love, which was goofy and gorgeous.
Hi Nic, Great review. I'm a huge fan of Kelly's and I really enjoyed her latest :)
I just finished Overtime in the Boss' Bed, which I really enjoyed :)
Mel, I swear you have the best bookshelf!
Warning: I'm coming to raid soon!
Congrats on the A, Lois!
I haven't read any Julia Quinn. Shame on me!
Blush away, Kelly, the book was fabulous!
I adore SEP. Along with Barbara O'Neal, she's my fave author.
The Secret Countess sounds intriguing...going to check it out.
So glad you enjoyed it, Joanne :)
